He was a member of the first generation of major contemporary Brazilian sociologists, working with Florestan Fernandes, Roger Bastide, Oracy Nogueira and Thales de Azevedo.〔 Costa Pinto was born in Salvador, and died in Waterloo, Canada. ==References==
